International News: In a major development, Gen-Z activists held a large online meeting with nearly 5,000 participants. During this meeting, they unanimously proposed the name of Sushila Karki for interim Prime Minister. The proposal has sparked wide discussions across political and public circles in Nepal. Sushila Karki holds the distinction of being the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court. Her reputation for strong decisions and independent character makes her a powerful candidate. People believe her clean image could bring stability during the country’s ongoing chaos.

Collapse of the Oli government

The political crisis deepened after the Oli government completely collapsed. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President Ramchandra Poudel, and nearly ten cabinet ministers submitted resignations. With no leadership in place, the Nepalese army has stepped in to manage governance temporarily, raising concerns worldwide.

Violence and loss of lives

The political vacuum has led to mass protests and brutal violence. Reports confirm that at least 24 people have lost their lives so far. Hundreds of citizens have been injured in clashes with security forces. The unrest shows no signs of slowing down.

Widespread destruction across Nepal

Riots and arson have destroyed government buildings and private properties. Parliament House, the President’s residence, and even the Prime Minister’s house were set on fire. Several ministers’ houses were also torched. The estimated financial loss runs into billions of rupees, worsening Nepal’s economic condition.

Tragedy strikes common citizens

The violence has not spared ordinary families. Many houses of common citizens were burned, leaving families homeless. In a shocking act, rioters set the wife of a former Prime Minister on fire, killing her. Airports and public infrastructure were also damaged by mobs.

Uncertain road ahead for Nepal

Nepal now stands at a crossroads. With political leadership in crisis, violence on the streets, and Gen-Z pushing for new leadership, all eyes are on the decision about Sushila Karki. If accepted, her appointment may signal a new beginning for Nepal.
